Worked-out figures
NoticeDesk now copies only what a document prints. A figure the document does not print, such as the VAT on a till receipt that shows only a VAT-inclusive total, is left blank instead of filled in. For some of these, that VAT among them, NoticeDesk works the figure out from what is printed and offers it with its working beside it, and it becomes part of the record only when you accept it. The compliance checks judge each particular as the document prints it, so a worked-out figure never makes a missing particular look printed. You can accept worked-out figures from History too, with no document to hand, and on a document read since this change, a re-read of a line finds that line on the page by what it prints. A new guide, Worked-out figures, lists each working.
iPhone photos upload as they are
HEIC and HEIF, the formats an iPhone saves photos in by default, are now accepted everywhere a file can be uploaded: the dropzone, batch and folder uploads, and email-in. Photograph a receipt and send it straight from the camera roll; there is nothing to convert first, and picking a single photo shows it in the upload preview whatever browser you use. PDF, JPEG, PNG and WEBP are unchanged.
Receipts judged as simplified VAT invoices
A till, card-terminal or point-of-sale receipt is now recognised at extraction, marked with a Receipt pill, and checked against the simplified VAT invoice rules (VAT Notice 700 §16.6) rather than the full-invoice ones. The particulars a simplified invoice need not carry (the customer's name, per-line unit price and quantity, the ex-VAT subtotal and the separate VAT amount) are marked skipped with the reason, instead of failing five rows on a perfectly lawful fuel receipt. What a receipt must still show, including the supplier's VAT number and a description of what was supplied, is checked exactly as before. In their place, receipts carry one check of their own comparing the total with the £250 simplified-invoice limit, and a receipt above it is raised for review. Receipts have their own History filter, count as ordinary purchases in exports, and roll into the VAT Invoice Check as positive supplies.
QuickBooks® Online bill export
A fourth entry in every Export menu: a bill CSV laid out to QuickBooks Online's own import, one row per line with the supplier, dates, description, amount and VAT. Credit notes are left out of this file rather than negated, because the import cannot take supplier credits; the caveat under the menu says so on a credit note. Accounts are never guessed, and a reverse-charge line is pointed at the right code.
FreeAgent bill-ready sheet
FreeAgent has no bill CSV importer, so the fifth export is a sheet keyed to FreeAgent's own bill fields: one row per line, ready to key or paste into a bill, credit notes as negative amounts. A guide walks through it.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax: where the record comes from
The product and support pages now say plainly what NoticeDesk is in an MTD for Income Tax world: the typed dates, amounts and VAT, the check results and the chain of custody are the evidence behind the digital record your ledger keeps, and the exports are the digital link into it. NoticeDesk never files, submits or sends anything to HMRC. A new article covers what invoices and receipts now have to look like.
Self-serve sign-up opens
Sign in with any email to create your own workspace, then pick a plan on the pricing page to start extracting. In the early months sign-in was limited to approved emails; that limit is gone.
AI Companion: one-click re-reads
A failed check now offers a Re-read button beside Edit field: the AI reads that one value again from your document, exactly as printed, and the check runs again on what comes back. Fields the AI was unsure of carry a ✦ star that does the same for a single field. Both are gathered in the new AI Companion drawer, which also holds the typed instruction box and your change history with undo. A typed fix now changes only the fields you name, so it can never blank the rest of the record, and any money it moves that you didn't ask about is refused.

Auto top-up, and a notice before you run out
When you're on track to use more than the month's credits, a notice says so, works out whether a top-up pack or the next plan up is cheaper for you, and offers that. If you'd rather never stop mid-run, auto top-up (off by default) buys a pack for you when your balance falls to a level you set, within a monthly limit you set. Owners and admins switch it on under Plan & billing; switching it off is immediate.
Email invoices straight in
Your workspace gets its own receiving address. Forward a supplier invoice to it and each attachment is extracted, checked and filed in History, with a receipt back to whoever created the address. Email-in is on every plan. More than one address, so you can route by company, client or site, is included on Gold plans and above.

Approval before export
Ask a colleague to sign off an invoice's numbers from its History detail. Approvals and rejections (with a written reason) are recorded on the invoice's timeline, a later edit sends it back for approval, and the export check reminds you if an invoice is still waiting. Advisory, never blocking. The approval workflow is included on Gold plans and above.
Team, roles and workspaces
Invite your team from the new Team screen and give each person a role: owner, admin, member or viewer. Each plan includes a number of seats, and extra seats can be added for £7 a month each. If you belong to more than one workspace, the chip at the bottom of the sidebar switches between them.

VAT Invoice Check: period rollup + audit pack
A new screen that reads every stored compliance verdict in a VAT period and splits the period's input VAT into invoices with no defects found vs defects to review: flagged invoices listed with their specific issues, clean invoices listed too (not just counted). Registration verification reported as its own coverage figure; non-sterling and undated invoices counted separately. One-click audit-pack CSV: a row per invoice with its check result and issues found. The VAT Invoice Check and its audit pack are included on Silver plans and above.
Folder drop
Drop an entire folder onto the Extract dropzone and NoticeDesk finds the invoices inside it, PDFs and images (JPEG, PNG, WEBP) alike, and feeds them straight into the batch flow, up to the 50-file limit. Unsupported file types are skipped, not errored. Batch and folder upload are included on Silver plans and above.
Duplicate invoice detection
An upload that looks like an invoice you've already processed now raises an advisory banner with a jump to the original, in single extract and in batch, where duplicate rows get a pill in the summary table and intra-batch duplicates link to each other. Advisory by design: it warns, you decide.
Extraction history with edit persistence
Your extractions are stored in your workspace: a history list with verdict pills, a read-only detail view, re-download of all three export formats, and soft delete. Corrections made on a live extraction can be saved back: compliance re-runs on save and the edit is recorded in the audit trail.
Sign-in with one-time email codes
Real accounts: email a sign-in code, stay signed in on your device, and access the tools your plan allows. Access is by request, reviewed within one business day.
Earlier
Batch insights
After a batch run: total spend (currency-aware), VAT in the batch, unique suppliers, invoices needing review, date range, currency mix, the top failing check, and a spend-by-supplier chart. The month-end pile, summarised before you drill in.
VAT registration verification: HMRC + VIES
NoticeDesk now verifies the supplier's VAT number against the source register: VIES for EU member states, and HMRC's Check-a-UK-VAT-number service for GB numbers. Registered-name mismatches warn; numbers not on the register fail; lookups that can't be completed are reported as unverified, never assumed. Re-check a hand-edited number without re-uploading.
Check citations + score-dial redesign
Each HMRC-rule check that fails or warns now carries its named gov.uk reference, linked from the row that raised it. The banner became a score dial with a collapsible report body: quiet when everything passes, open when something doesn't.
The compliance checks
The presence-and-arithmetic set: totals math and line-item sums, per-country VAT number format for 13 countries, and the twelve Notice 700 presence checks, re-run instantly on every edit you make.
Batch processing up to 50 invoices
Multi-file upload with a live progress band and a per-invoice verdict table (pass, review, manual), plus drill-in to any row. Sage 50 and Xero exports ask for your codes once and apply them across the whole run.
Manual Review mode
When the AI returns an unusable response, the document drops into Manual Review (original PDF beside an editable raw-output panel) instead of failing silently.
AI extraction with per-field confidence + the three exports
The foundation: 30+ fields extracted per invoice, each with its own confidence score, rendered for inline correction, and exported to Sage 50 UK, Xero bill or Finance-Ready CSV.
